“11 YEAR’S AGO”
FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION
True works of art can be described as a juxtaposition of complexity and simplicity. Art must be filled with strong emotional content and be based on perception: the artist’s and the viewer’s.
I always choose to present my work in strong, bold colours, relying on lines and forms to create a distinctive nature. Through colour and form the subject is transformed into its essential, formative concept; both simple and complex in nature. I rely on colour as a major element in projecting the emotional content in my work. My paintings arise from my desire to fulfill an emotional response as opposed to depict the formal structure itself.
As an artist I am constantly searching for diverse formats to express myself through repeated motifs and mutating characters of my own creation.
My wide-ranging work embodies an intersection of pop culture, mythology, and fine art.
For years and years the only people who cared about skateboard art were skateboarders. Then came a show called Beautiful Losers that was presented in several large galleries and museums. It featured phenomenal skateboard graphics both printed and painted. Only then people started paying more and more attention.
You will now too.
